Examity
Examity offers an online proctoring service to support the testing process for students who are completing exams online and from a distance. A live proctor can monitor the entire authentication and test-writing process using webcam and screen sharing software, as well as browser lock-down and other technologies. The proctor is able to monitor the test-taker’s screen throughout the entirety of the examination and intervene if students attempt to contact others or use unpermitted materials on their exams. Other Examity services also include record and review options, in which a recording of the test-taker is reviewed by a professional proctor after the exam has been completed. Use of an online testing environment, such as Quercus, is required to support a fully online exam.
Instructors should note that Examity is not currently integrated into the Quercus platform and thus requires manual upload of course and student information.
The University of Toronto has an institutionally endorsed contract with Examity that protects the privacy of the recordings, and other personal information. Departments who wish to use Examity for delivery of online exams will need to make arrangements directly with the company for account management and invoicing.
The Academic Toolbox helps you...
The tools in your Quercus Academic Toolbox can assist with your course delivery by Organizing Content, helping you Connect and communicate with your students, Assessing student work and providing feedback, and allowing you to Teach from a distance.
Typical Course Format?
Most tools in the Academic Toolbox can assist in both online and face-to-face courses. Many tools can provide benefits in either synchronous or asynchronous teaching. Some tools have been primarily designed for one format or another (synchronous/asynchronous), however, may be adapted for any format depending on your pedagogical goals.
To learn more about different teaching modalities, please consult our Online Teaching & Learning page, arrange a consultation with a CTSI Teaching Liason, or contact your Divisional support representative.
